We were drawn to this restaurant because they have GLUTEN FREE menu items. Our waiter was attentive and helpful when things didn't come out right. The staff was delightful and so friendly! Highly recommend!
Pretty expensive for just okay food. Had the buffet and the best thing in it was the scalloped potatoes. We also had the fish platter it was sub-par at best; looked quite pale instead of a golden brown. The pop was good and the rolls and butter were amazing. The best part (and I mean the best part) was our waitress. She was an adorable gorgeous lady from Serbia and even though the restaurant was fairly busy she was very attententive.
Decided to go here over Toast A Go-Go with my family due the reviews. I was a little scared when I saw the "Hormel" name being advertised so prominently in the menu as the source for most of their breakfast meats, but the food was actually pretty good. I got some scrambled eggs, corned beef hash, and pancakes, with a cup of coffee. The scrambled eggs came out more like a lightly cooked empty omelette, all in one piece folded into a pile, which was strange but tasted just fine. The pancakes were solid, pretty average. The corned beef hash was actually really good and surprised me. The coffee was like the pancakes, good but pretty average.
Food was delicious.
Very nice place, friendly people. The prices were pretty good considering it is a resort area. The food was about pretty good quality, and there were some very interesting-looking specialty pancakes on the menu. We shared the steak-and-cheese omelet, which was very tasty. The coffee was only average. They opened at 8, which is kinda late, but it's the off-season, so maybe that was it.
Nothing remarkable, but a good, well-made breakfast and good service. I'd definitely eat here again if I'm ever back in Mackinaw.
I've been traveling to Mackinaw for close to 30 years. In doing so, I've become more aware of the "really" good food spots. Not only does this place exceed being really good, I'd go as far as to say that it's one of the best places to eat in the city, AND on the island. Their roast beef is worth the trip, along with their cod, and vegetables. In addition to their food, their service is superb. This is DEFINITELY a place that has to be on every tourist's list, while visiting Mackinaw/Mackinac.
